The skimmer is a Barr Aquatic SK5220 dual beckett. We also employ a Barr Aquatic waste container that holds 3 gallons of skimate. The design of the waste container is such that once it reaches maximum capacity it will stop the flow of air coming from the skimmer thus “shutting down” the skimmer and reducing/eliminating the change of skimmer overflow. We run about 85-90 SCFM through the becketts using a Sequence Hammerhead pump. This pump is used to run the skimmer, phosban reactors and calcium reactor.
