#1 on the FAQ without a doubt has to be the spray foam. I get tons of emails and PM’s about the foam so I will try to cover everything here.
I’ll start with the easy stuff-
· It’s called “handi Foam”. Here is what the can looks like-

· Be sure to wear gloves (such as latex
gloves) or you will have foam on your fingers for weeks!
· It can be removed with a razor blade and some elbow grease if applied
incorrectly or if you want it removed.
· coverage is about 1.5 SF per can
· It is fish safe
· It does not deteriorate over time unless some fish nip at it and will
encrust with coralline just like live rock
· It will stick to PVC, glass (with mixed results), acrylic and especially
YOUR HANDS- wear latex gloves when applying.
·
It is not the same as expanding “great stuff” foam from Home Depot-
for one thing this is black/dark gray and not yellow in color and will remain
that color- it is also fish safe.
·
It can be purchased from places like Custom Aquatic, Dr Foster Smith, aquatic
eco systems and many other online retailers but I haven’t found it locally.
There are several threads about the foam on Reefcentral and here are a few-
